In order to determine if you are ready for participating in an online class, we have constructed this mini-course for you to test your skills at working online. The class conatins the following:

1. Characteristics of an online student
   
2. Self-Evaluation
   
3. Learning Styles and Motivation
   
4. Communicating online through discussion forums and email
   
5. Updating your student profile
   

Take a few moments to evaluate your skills and to determine if this is a good fit for you and your life and work schedule.

The pre-test is designed to determine your knowledge on the use of a digital multimeter. You have one opportunity to complete this assessment. If you score 75% or better, we will register you in the post-test. If you score less, we will register you in the class.

You have XXX minutes to complete this test. This is NOT an open book test. It is a test to determine your knowledge of the use of a digital multimeter not your ability to look up an answer.

This course is a perquisite for participation in Level I, coffee brewer repair, or Level II, espresso machine repair. Topics in this class include the following:

• Safety and the DMM
  
• Safety in the workplace including OSHA, State agencies, Lockout / Tagout.
  
• DMM Abbreviations, Symbols, and Terminology
  
• DMM Displays and Advanced Features
  
• Electricity and Electronics Review including atoms, current, resistance, power, circuits, single phase, three phase, transformers, industry approvals and schematics
  
• Measuring AC and DC Voltage, Resistance and Continuity Testing
  
• Measuring AC & DC Current
  
• Ohm’s Law and Power Formula
  

If you feel you have a strong knowledge in these topics, you may test out of the class.

• 4 weeks in length with 6 — 12 hours per week for class participation
