When Should You Use a Cute Pick Up Line?
by bryana starnes - Monday, 21 April 2008, 12:36 PM
Anyone in the world
By Scott Patterson Pick up lines are a risky way to start a conversation with women. When you use them, you run the risk of looking like a fool. What I usually recommend to my readers is to look for genuine conversation starters instead of using a lame pick up line. But if you can't think of anything to say, you can try a cute pick up line. The key is to make sure it comes across as a genuine compliment. If you make her feel special, you'll at least be able to continue conversation. The rest is up to you. To get started, here are a few different cute pick up lines that you can use. Like I said before, pick up lines aren't the best way to start a conversation. But at least these won't make the girl slap you: "I don't think I have met you before, because I would have certainly remembered a good-looking woman like you" "I can't believe I have been here the whole night and when I see 'The One', I have to say good bye" "Were you always this cute or do you have to work at it?" "You're so how that you could make Satan sweat." "I've had a lousy day today. It always makes me feel better to see a pretty girl smile. So would you smile for me?" "Are you as beautiful on this inside as you are on the outside?" "Is it hot in here, or is it just you?" "Weren't you on the cover of Vogue?" "I am not drunk. I am just intoxicated just by being around you." "Haven't we met beforeoh yeah, you're the girl with beautiful smile!" "Right now I feel like Richard Gere, because I am standing next to a Pretty Woman." "I now that milk 'does a body good', but damn girl, how much milk have you been drinking?" "If God made anything better then you, he would have kept it for himself." "There aren't enough O's in the word hot to describe how hot you are." "Hey, please don't frown, because you never know when someone might be falling love with your smile." Trying to use a cute pick up line is not the best way to engage a conversation. While you might get her to start talking, you won't have taken any steps to creating rapport with her. So instead of using a cute pick up line, try to find something genuine that you like a woman and use that to start talking to her. Are you having trouble meeting and attracting women? Well stop worrying about using a cute pick up line! Instead learn about the RIGHT way to approach women. Just take a look at Scott Patterson's FREE ebook: Seduction SecretsRevealed! to receive hypnotic secrets to attracting women. Give Your Finance Woes the Blessing of an Unsecured Loan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joanne_Elizabeth]Joanne Elizabeth While secured loans are the obvious choice for homeowners, there exists an option for non-homeowners too. The option is that of unsecured loans. As is apparent from its name, an unsecured loan is a form of credit that is not backed by collateral. In other words, an unsecured loan doesnt demand any security from you. This loan is usually availed by tenants who do not own a home and hence cannot offer collateral. Even homeowners who do not wish to put their homes at risk can take this loan. There are various facets to unsecured loans that make them a favourable proposition. The chief among them is the fact that unsecured loans get approved a lot faster than secured loans. This is because unlike secured loans; you do not have to get your property valued, as is the case of unsecured loans. This not only saves time but also eliminates the need for paperwork, which is so integral to secured loan processing. An unsecured loan may be used in any way you want, be it for debt consolidation, holiday, home improvements, or to buy a car or even to finance your wedding. Just as every coin has two sides to it, unsecured loans also have some limitations. Since, unsecured loans do not demand security, therefore they are considered as high-risk ventures by lenders. Unlike secured loans, if you fail to pay back the loan, the lender will not be able to stake any claim on your property. This is why unsecured loans carry a huge rate of interest. The advent of Internet has made it a lot simpler for borrowers to avail loans, especially unsecured loans. You no longer have to go knocking at each and every lenders door for a loan. You can easily surf the net for the available choices on unsecured loans. This gives you the added benefit of comparing several offers and then selecting the most befitting deal for yourself. Whats more you can do all this from the convenience of your home or office. Add to this, most of these online lenders offer a lower rate of interest than traditional lenders. The reason behind this is that these online lenders operate via the net and not via a physical building and so have reduced overheads making it easy for them to offer you low rates of interest. If you are worried about giving your information on the net, then you can take heart in the fact that most of these sites have a well-defined encryption system in place that makes sure that the information you give remains protected. So, what are you waiting for? Start your search right away. Good Luck! Medicaid Overview

By Paul Nicolosi Medicaid, also known as medical assistance is a joint federal-state program that provides health insurance coverage to low-income children, seniors and people with disabilities. In addition, it covers care in a nursing home for those who qualify. Medicaid is a state administered program and provides more comprehensive coverage than Medicare, particularly with regard to nursing home care. However, not all nursing homes participate in the Medicaid program. There are no limits on the maximum length of a Medicaid recipients stay at a facility. The Federal government pays roughly one-half of the costs, while the State covers the remainder. In Illinois, the agency that administers Medicaid is the Illinois Department of Public Aid (IDPA). In the absence of any other public program covering long-term nursing home care, Medicaid has become the default nursing home insurance of the middle class. While Congress and the federal Health Care Financing Administration set out the main rules under which Medicaid operates, each state runs its own program. As a result, the rules are somewhat different in every state, although the framework is the same throughout the country. The following describes some of the basic rules regarding Medicaid in Illinois. Resource (Asset) Rules In order to be eligible for Medicaid benefits in Illinois a nursing home resident may have no more than $2,000 in "countable" assets. While a Medicaid applicant may be eligible even if these assets exceed the limits, the applicant will be required to spend down these assets. This means that the cost of care must be paid for by the Medicaid applicant to the extent that the assets exceed the $2,000 limit. The spouse of a nursing home resident--called the 'community spouse'-- is limited to one half of the couple's joint assets up to $84,120 (in 2000) in "countable" assets (see Medicaid, Protections for the Healthy Spouse). The $84,120 figure changes each year to reflect inflation. In addition, the community spouse may keep the first $17,400, even if that is more than half of the couple's assets. These figures change annually and are found in the Department of Human Services policy manual. Basic Medicaid information is also available at http://www.state.il.us/dpa/mednews.htm. All assets are counted against these limits unless the assets fall within the short list of "non countable" assets. These include: (1) Personal possessions, such as clothing, furniture, and jewelry with an equity value of no more than $2000. However, wedding rings, engagement rings and items required because of an individuals medical or physical condition are exempt regardless of value. (2) One motor vehicle if it meets any one of the following criteria: A) If it is necessary for employment B) If it is necessary for transportation for medical treatment of a specific or regular medical problem C) If it is modified for operation by or transportation of a handicapped person or D) If it is necessary because of terrain, remoteness or similar factors to provide necessary transportation to perform essential daily activities. A motor vehicle owned by a nursing home resident is also exempt if transferred to a spouse. In all other cases the exemption is limited to $4,500. (3) The applicant's principal residence, provided it is in the same state in which the individual is applying for coverage although some limitations, discussed below, exist. (4) In Illinois, up to $1,500 of revocable burial expenses are exempt and up to $4,120 in irrevocable prepaid expenses are exempt. However, the amount of the revocable expense exemption is reduced by the amount of irrevocable expenses. In all cases, expenses for burial space or plots and other customary items such as a casket or headstone are completely exempt. (5) Assets that are considered "inaccessible" for one reason or another. These assets often come in the form of specific types of trusts. The Home Nursing home residents do not have to sell their homes in order to qualify for Medicaid. In Illinois, the home will not be considered a countable asset for Medicaid eligibility purposes as long as the nursing home resident intends to return home. The home may also be kept if the Medicaid applicant's spouse, sibling, minor or disabled child lives there. However, if the applicant leaves the home with no intention of returning, the property must be counted as an asset. The Transfer Penalty The second major rule of Medicaid eligibility is the penalty for transferring assets. Congress does not want you to move into a nursing home on Monday, give all your money to your children (or whomever) on Tuesday, and qualify for Medicaid on Wednesday. So it has imposed a penalty on people who transfer assets without receiving fair value in return. This penalty is a period of time during which the person transferring the assets will be ineligible for Medicaid. The penalty period is determined by dividing the amount transferred by what Medicaid determines to be the average private pay cost of a nursing home in Illinois. The period of ineligibility starts on the first day of the month of the transfer. Example: If a Medicaid applicant made gifts totaling $90,000 in a state where the average nursing home bill is $5,000 a month, he or she would be ineligible for Medicaid for 18 months ($90,000 $5,000 = 18). Another way to look at the above example is that for every $5,000 transferred, an applicant would be ineligible for Medicaid nursing home benefits for one month. In theory, there is no limit on the number of months a person can be ineligible. Example: The period of ineligibility for the transfer of property worth $400,000 would be 80 months ($400,000 $5,000 = 80). However, the IDPA may look only at transfers made during the 36 months preceding an application for Medicaid (or 60 months if the transfer was made to certain trusts). This is called the "look-back period." Effectively, then, there is now a 36-month limit on periods of ineligibility resulting from transfers. This means that people who make large transfers must be careful not to apply for Medicaid before the 36-month look-back period passes. Example: To use the above example of the $400,000 transfers, if the individual made the transfer on January 1, 1998, and waited until February 1, 2001, to apply for Medicaid -- 37 months later -- the transfer would not affect his or her Medicaid eligibility. However, if the individual applied for benefits in December 2000, only 35 months after transferring the property, he or she would have to wait the full 80 months before becoming eligible for benefits. Exceptions to the Transfer Penalty Transferring assets to certain recipients will not trigger a period of Medicaid ineligibility. These exempt recipients include: (1) A spouse (or a transfer to anyone else as long as it is for the spouse's benefit); (2) A blind or disabled child; (3) A trust for the benefit of a blind or disabled child; (4) A trust for the sole benefit of a disabled individual under age 65 (even if the trust is for the benefit of the Medicaid applicant, under certain circumstances). In addition, special exceptions apply to the transfer of a home. The Medicaid applicant may freely transfer his or her home to the following individuals without incurring a transfer penalty: (1) The applicant's spouse; (2) A child who is under age 21 or who is blind or disabled; (3) Into a trust for the sole benefit of a disabled individual under age 65 (even if the trust is for the benefit of the Medicaid applicant, under certain circumstances); (4) A sibling who has lived in the home during the year preceding the applicant's institutionalization and who already holds an equity interest in the home; or (5) A "caretaker child," who is defined as a child of the applicant who lived in the house for at least two years prior to the applicant's institutionalization and who during that period provided care that allowed the applicant to avoid a nursing home stay. Congress has created a very important escape hatch from the transfer penalty: the penalty will be "cured" if the transferred asset is returned in its entirety, or it will be reduced if the transferred asset is partially returned. Is Transferring Assets Against the Law? You may have heard that transferring assets, or helping someone to transfer assets, to achieve Medicaid eligibility is a crime. Is this true? The short answer is that for a brief period it was, and it's possible, although unlikely under current law, that it will be in the future. As part of a 1996 Kennedy-Kassebaum health care bill, Congress made it a crime to transfer assets for purposes of achieving Medicaid eligibility. Congress repealed the law as part of the 1997 Balanced Budget bill, but replaced it with a statute that made it a crime to advise or counsel someone for a fee regarding transferring assets for purposes of obtaining Medicaid. This meant that although transferring assets was again legal, explaining the law to clients could have been a criminal act. In 1998, Attorney General Janet Reno determined that the law was unconstitutional because it violated the First Amendment protection of free speech, and she told Congress that the Justice Department would not enforce the law. Around the same time, a U.S. District Court judge in New York said that the law could not be enforced for the same reason. Accordingly, the law remains on the books, but it will not be enforced. Since it is possible that these rulings may change, you should contact our office before filing a Medicaid application. Treatment of Income The basic Medicaid rule for nursing home residents is that they must pay all of their income, minus certain deductions, to the nursing home. The deductions include a $30-a-month personal needs allowance, a deduction for any uncovered medical costs (including medical insurance premiums), and, in the case of a married applicant, an allowance for the spouse who continues to live at home if he or she needs income support. A deduction may also be allowed for a dependent child living at home. A deduction is also allowed for community spouse maintenance needs. The allowance in 2000 was $2,103 and is adjusted annually. This allows the Medicaid recipient to exempt some of his/her income for the purpose of spouse maintenance. Example: if Mr. X resides in a long term care facility such as a nursing home and has monthly income of $1,600 and his spouse has income of $800 a month (from pension or social security for example) then the difference between the spouses $800/mo. Income and the $2,103 allowance (in 2000) may be contributed by Mr. X to his spouse and he may deduct that amount, up to the total allowance, from his income for asset calculation purposes. Under the facts of the example, this would allow Mr. X a $503 community spouse deduction and $30 personal needs deduction. The amount of Mr. Xs income in excess of the deductions ($1,600-$503-$30= $1,067) must be spent down or paid to cover the medical expenses each month. A similar deduction exists for dependent family members including dependent adult children, dependent parents or dependent siblings. For Medicaid applicants who are married, the income of the community spouse is not counted in determining the Medicaid applicant's eligibility. Only income in the applicant's name is counted in determining his or her eligibility. Thus, even if the community spouse is still working and earning $5,000 a month, she will not have to contribute to the cost of caring for her spouse in a nursing home if Medicaid covers him. Protections for the Healthy Spouse The Medicaid law provides special protections for the spouse of a nursing home resident to make sure she has the minimum support needed to continue to live in the community. The so-called "spousal protections" work this way: if the Medicaid applicant is married, the countable assets of both the community spouse and the institutionalized spouse are totaled as of the date of "institutionalization," the day on which the ill spouse enters either a hospital or a long-term care facility in which he or she then stays for at least 30 days. In Illinois, the community spouse may keep one half of the couple's total "countable" assets up to a maximum of $84,120 (in 2000). Called the "community spouse resource allowance," this is the most that Illinois allows a community spouse to retain without a hearing or a court order. Example: If a couple has $100,000 in countable assets on the date the applicant enters a nursing home, he or she will be eligible for Medicaid once the couple's assets have been reduced to a combined figure of $52,000 -- $2,000 for the applicant and $50,000 for the community spouse. In all circumstances, the income of the community spouse will continue undisturbed; he or she will not have to use his or her income to support the nursing home spouse receiving Medicaid benefits. But what if most of the couple's income is in the name of the institutionalized spouse, and the community spouse's income is not enough to live on? In such cases, the community spouse is entitled to some or all of the monthly income of the institutionalized spouse as described above in treatment of income... In exceptional circumstances, community spouses may seek an increase in the income allowance either by appealing to the IDPA or by obtaining a court order of spousal support. Estate Recovery and Liens Under Medicaid law, following the death of the Medicaid recipient a state must attempt to recover from his or her estate whatever benefits it paid for the recipient's care. However, no recovery can take place until the death of the recipient's spouse, or as long as there is a child of the deceased who is under 21 or who is blind or disabled. The IDPA is permitted to seek recovery of paid benefits in all of the benefit recipients probate property. Given the rules for Medicaid eligibility, the only probate property of substantial value that a Medicaid recipient is likely to own at death is his or her home. In addition to the right to recover from the estate of the Medicaid beneficiary, IDPA must place a lien on real estate owned by a Medicaid beneficiary during her life unless certain dependent relatives are living in the property. If the property is sold while the Medicaid beneficiary is living, not only will she cease to be eligible for Medicaid due to the cash she would net from the sale, but also she would have to satisfy the lien by paying back the state for its coverage of her care to date. The exceptions to this rule are cases where a spouse, a disabled or blind child, a child under age 21, or a sibling with an equity interest in the house is living there. Whether or not a lien is placed on the house, the lien's purpose should only be for recovery of Medicaid expenses. The IDPA may seek to enforce the lien at any time there is a transfer of the real property, in cases of fraud, or at the time of death of the owner. The Future of Billfishing
by bryana starnes - Sunday, 20 April 2008, 02:53 AM
Anyone in the world
By Richard P Chudy If you love something, set it free. Its not the exact or full quote and Im pretty sure that the author wasnt talking about a fish. Nevertheless, the sentiment seems to best express my feelings about billfish and their importance in the grand scheme of things. I ran across another quote that speaks volumes, and it goes like this - A release today, is a fish tomorrow! Yep, this guy is speaking my language. I wonder how many others feel the same way? To my surprise, a whole lot more than I anticipated and theyre doing a whole lot more than just talking about it. The World Championship Billfish Release Tournament makes its debut in beautiful and billfish-bountiful Cabo San Lucas in May. Sure, there are plenty of other tournaments held here at the tip of the Baja peninsula, but this one takes conservation-minded protocols to a new and higher level. First, the mandatory use of circle hooks with either live or dead bait. Second, single hooks only, whether J or circle, on all artificial baits. Third, a tagging program which will assist The Billfish Foundation and others in the continuing research of billfish species and successful conservation methods. There is a long list of worthy endeavors undertaken by the tournament and those associated with it including direct benefits to the local community. Most important being support of the Ninos del Capitan, an orphanage dedicated to making a difference in the lives of underprivileged children in Los Cabos. Add a one-of-a-kind Billfish Tag Challenge to the mix and you have the makings of a socially and ecologically conscious tournament with a twist. The organizers have added a single tagged marlin to be tagged and released three days prior to the start of fishing that if caught will bring the lucky team or angler a $1,000,000.00 (USD) payout. Mexico has never seen anything like this in a fishing tournament, conservation-minded or not, and the thought of landing the million dollar marlin is sending a buzz through the ranks of big game sport fishermen around the globe. The group that put this event together sports some impressive credentials and brings a world of knowledge and experience to the table. The reasons why they chose to become involved follow along the same path, a path that leads to a reversal in the decline of billfish populations. Amongst the committee members is Dr. Russ Nelson, marine scientist and Director of International Conservation Programs for The Billfish Foundation - http://www.billfish.org. When asked why he decided to support the tournament and provide his expertise, Dr. Nelson responded with the following. Personally I have two motivations here. As a lifelong angler I am absolutely devoted to the joy of pursuing these great animals and hope my daughters and their children have the opportunity to do the same. As a marine scientist I recognize the importance of billfish - sailfish, marlins, swordfish - as the apex predators of the marine pelagic ecosystem - predators whose presence preserves a natural balance of other fish species in the system. Threats to these billfish predators represent real threats to the stability and function of the entire system. Dr. Nelson also added, I think the time is right for Cabo (the town that marlin built) to move forward with a high profile all-release tournament. Cabo and Baja California Sur have made great progress in billfish and marine fisheries conservation over the last few years and now we want to showcase this conservation ethic to the whole billfishing world. Wayne Harmond, one of the WCBRTs tournament directors said, I chose to get involved with this group out of respect for them and as a chance to show others that tournament billfishing can have a conservation message and a social conscience and still be a great, fun experience. Indiscriminant drift net fishing and long lining have severely impacted the oceans creatures (not the least of which are the billfish populations). When you add the still popular tradition of sports harvesting of billfish, its clear that we have to show some personal responsibility if we're to change these practices. Baja, Mexico is a perfect example of a world-class billfishery that is in danger of losing one its greatest natural resources. I want to show that we can be good stewards of the oceans without compromising the pleasure and enjoyment of sport fishing. Minerva Saenz, owner of Minervas Baja Tackle in Cabo San Lucas - http:// www.minervas.com the tournament headquarters in Cabo, was asked what she thought about the WCBRT. What's there not to love about it, a tournament for fishermen by fishermen! This is a group of organizers who are not in it for the money but for the sport! First class all the way! Big dollars for releasing fish! This tournament is the future of jackpot fishing! It's important to point out that the WCBRT is also going to donate proceeds to local charities as well the "Ninos del Capitan" and the FCP (Fundacion Para la Conservacion de Los Picudos, A.C.) or Mexican Billfish Foundation. The FCP has worked hard in Los Cabos, alongside other like-minded groups, to develop the first trust in Mexico that sets aside fishing license sales revenues in our state to billfish conservation. Great reasons to think about getting involved yourself, whether as an angler or as a sponsor. So why did we (CabosBest.com) get involved. I can site hundreds if not thousands of pages of scientific research that supports the position of the WCBRT and The Billfish Foundation. Facts are facts. If we do nothing but stay the present course, these glorious creatures will cease to exist and along with them, the delicate balance of our oceans ecosystems. If you love something, set if free. A release today is a fish tomorrow. The future of billfishing depends on it and its up to each of us to support these types of events and further the spread of conservation-minded tournaments worldwide. For more information about the World Championship Billfish Release Tournament, visit their website at http://www.wcbrt.com or call 800 398-6863. Natural Weight Loss - Eat Right - Keep Moving
by bryana starnes - Thursday, 17 April 2008, 05:41 AM
Anyone in the world
By Andrew Gee The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on Self Improvement, Motivation and Empowerment. It is based on research done over twenty years as a personal and business coach. This self improvement article was written in response to questions which have been asked on losing weight and long term weight loss as well as address common challenges that people have with this subject. I sincerely hope that you find the following information of value. Natural Weight Loss - Eat Right, Keep Moving You just have read all that you need to know about how to prevent being overweight. That simple set of instructions should be easy to follow, but not for 35% of Americans who are unable to prevent being overweight. Of course, once we are overweight, we usually want to trim down for a whole lot of reasons, some related to health, others having to do with looks. In addition, it is never too late to lose weight. But the fact is, it is a whole lot easier to prevent putting on pounds than to try losing them later on. And if there is one thing we all know, it is that weight gain is likely to happen if we do not take forward-looking steps to stop it. Health experts say that most people who are into losing weight usually stray. They tend to go back to their old eating habits even after they learn to enjoy low-fat eating. They tend to return to sedentary ways even though they enjoy exercising. But despite the momentum toward weight gain, you can stop it from happening, experts say. And there are plenty of good reasons to avoid excess pounds, reasons that go beyond vanity or social acceptance. In fact, some health experts contend that the significance of excess weight is more than cosmetic. They say that it takes a huge toll on people's physical health. The Way to Losing Weight...Naturally The nuts and bolts of eating right maintaining a healthy weight is not all that complicated. In fact, it is a good bet that most people know pretty well what is best. Hence, losing weight the natural way should not be a problem at all. Consequently, a reasonable approach for losing weight naturally is to stick to a diet that is high in complex carbohydrates, high in fiber, moderate in protein, and low in fat. A complex carbohydrate is a baked potato. Fat is the sour cream and butter you should not put on it. Fiber is vegetables. Fat is the oil you should not fry them in. Protein is a lean cut of meat. Fat is the gravy you should not pour over it. ========SIDEBAR======== When it comes to the subject of self improvement, I fully understand (through my own experiences) that it is a lot easier said than done. However, you are here, right now, because you have a desire to improve your self or you are at least interested in this subject. Perhaps you are reading this to help a friend or colleague - great. If this article helps you or you help a friend, paying it forward is what lif'e all about so we all win. ======END SIDEBAR====== Moreover, health experts say that dietary fat promotes weight gain because it is a very dense source of calories. Also, when you consume excess calories from dietary fat, you store those calories as body fat more efficiently than excess calories from other sources. On the other hand, it can also help you lose weight naturally if you will not fall into the so-called "fat-free" trap. Manufacturers keep coming out with low-fat or fat-free versions of their best-selling foods, but Americans keep getting fatter anyway. One of the greatest delusions of the 1990s is that "no fat" means "non-fattening." The truth is, you are often getting just as many calories from the no-fat version, even if the calories are not coming from fat. The term fat-free can be a trap if you start to believe that you can eat any amount of the foods that are advertised that way. What's more, it is best to respond to hunger with healthy snacks. Health experts say it would be better to try eating every three to four hours, which may mean a nutritious low-fat snack between lunch and dinner. When you feel the urge for food coming on, snacking on something healthy such as a slice of whole-grain toasted bread is a better alternative. Never skip a meal and eat snacks instead because that is the worst thing you can do if you are trying to control your eating habits and weight. Remember, if you want to lose weight naturally, you have to keep track of every food you eat and of every activity that you do. When you say natural weight loss means that you do not have to use some accessories or helpful aids just to lose weight. Losing weight naturally is a process and not a fad. Hence, it would take a lot of dogged determination, self-control, and discipline just to achieve your ideal weight. NOW is the time! O.K. you have read the article. Now is the time for action. Without action, this article adds no value whatsoever to your self improvement. But remember, without action, you cannot blame this self improvement article or any article for that matter. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Keith_Rickwood]Keith Rickwood Camera phones are very popular among mobile users. So much that, now almost every new mobile phone introduced has imaging capabilities enabled in it. An estimate says around 500 million mobile phones are sold every year out of which camera phones take a large pie. The fight now is not for whether a mobile phone has a camera or not, but how powerful the photographic capabilities are. With Samsung offering a 10-megapixel camera, the competition has only got intense and even the manufacturers of Blackberry smart phones had to add camera in their latest addition. Right from a 0.3-megapixel camera to 5-MP and now 10-megapixel, camera mobile phones have grown and evolved over the years. Its not only in resolution, but the supporting imaging capabilities too, have seen tremendous improvement over the years. Carl Zeiss optics, landscape mode, T.V output and red eye reductions have made imaging power of mobile phones brighter and livelier and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that camera phones have replaced many low end dedicated cameras. The Biggest Problem With Your Marketing Is...?
by bryana starnes - Monday, 14 April 2008, 04:01 PM
Anyone in the world

By Karen Fegarty What is the biggest problem most marketers have? Who knows. We don't, and they certainly don't either. That is exactly the problem. Most marketers don't know whether or not their campaigns are working because they don't know how to track the results. I can't count the number of people I know who create a marketing campaign and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars implementing it, then don't even bother to track the results. How will you ever know if, when, and why your marketing is successful, or unsuccessful, if you don't see hard data on your results? With online marketing, it's easy to find out where and when your marketing dollars are being wasted. Using online tracking you can: Track how many people respond to your online ads - If people don't respond, then you can simply alter your ad and try again. Track when people respond to your ads - Do they respond immediately or do they wait a week? This helps you to determine a time frame for sales activity. Track whether people are opening your email marketing or bulk email messages - If they aren't, maybe you need to change your subject line or find a new list of people to email. Determine which ad copy or text brings the best results - The right words make all the difference in advertising. Online tracking helps you determine which words will pull sales. Monitor the click activity on your site - What you really need to know are the number of unique visitors you receive. A unique visitor is each individual visitor who clicks on your site, regardless of the number of times they click on your site. The number of clicks you receive is less important than the number of unique visitors you receive. Online tracking can tell you all this and more. Whatever online marketing you use, from banners to pop-unders, ebooks to articles, make sure you know what works and what doesn't. Use online tracking and save yourself money, time and energy. Depression-My Story
by bryana starnes - Monday, 14 April 2008, 02:50 PM
Anyone in the world
By Rebecca White What is depression? Depression is a serious medical illness; its not something that you have made up in your head. Its more than just feeling "down in the dumps" or "blue" for a few days. Its feeling "down" and "low" and "hopeless" for weeks at a time. It is not something you can just pull yourself out of! It is not something that you can just shake off. To read more about the signs and symptoms of depression go to this link: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/publicat/depression.cfm#ptdep3 For many people one tiny thing can set off a huge depression attack. I have suffered from depression now for 8 years, I guess to be truthful I have dealt with depression my whole life but just didnt realize it till the incident I am about to relate to you. 8 years ago my husband Brent was in the military, he had been having problems with his health for a little over a year and the doctors all said it was in his head and that they could find nothing wrong with him. Our oldest sons were only 1 and 3 at the time and we lived in Olympia Washington. I kept telling him to get a second opinion but being we had military insurance and at that time it wasnt as flexible as it is now, he didnt want to go get a second opinion. We lived in a nice apartment and I love our life, although I was homesick a lot of times it was the life we chose and so I was happy till the incident I will tell you about. I woke up one morning your typical morning, get up to pack Brents lunch and wake him up for PT (physical training) it was 5:30 in the morning. He wasnt in bed which for him was very unusual but I thought he may have just needed to use the bathroom and I missed him getting out of bed. I walked into the kitchen to start making our morning coffee, and realized that the TV was still on which it shouldnt have been. I then started looking for Brent I went into the bathroom and found him in a coma on our bathroom floor. I couldnt get a response from him and I panicked. I got the boys up threw them in the car and then dragged my husband from our bathroom to our van to get him to the hospital as fast as I could. Now why didnt I just call the ambulance? To be honest I didnt think about that all I wanted to do was get him some help. When we got to the hospital he was still in a coma, the doctors couldnt figure out why he was non responsive. They pulled me and my sons out of the room he was in and told me to find someone to watch the boys and get back to the hospital as fast as I could and to call his family as they didnt think he was going to make it. I was thrown our perfect life, our safe life was in just a few short hours going to change. I can deal with some stress but the thought of losing my best friend was more than I could bare. We didnt have a cell phone at that time so I ran with the kids in both my arms to the payphone to call the only friend I had at that time to tell her what was going on, she was getting ready to move in 2 days but she told me to bring my kids to her house and she would watch them. I then drove the 20 minutes back to our house dropped the kids off at her house ran home and called his parents. During that time I got a phone call from his captain that the doctor had called him to tell him to track me down as my husband was dying and they didnt think he was going to pull through. I screamed I cried I just didnt believe this was happening to us! I got back in the car and smoked cigarettes to try to calm down, we had quit smoking a month before this, my friend had given me her cigarettes while I was at her house. I rushed into the emergency room and the doctor met me out in the hall way and was asking me all sorts of questions of course I didnt want to take the time to answer I wanted to get back to my hubby, my world, my best friend. The Doctor told me that his sugar levels were 950 and that he really should have died sometime during the night but he was a fighter. Finally he let me go into the room where Brent was and I leaned over him pleading with him to not leave me, pleading with him not to leave his sons. He opened his eyes and the only thing he said was I am mad at you, you were smoking then he went back into his coma. Of course the doctors then pushed me out of the way and started trying to get him to respond to them, they then told me they were taking him to ICU to work on him and get him on a heart catheter. 48 hours later he was awake and was responding to treatment, they had found out that he was a type 1 diabetic although they still dont understand how he got it since no one in his family has diabetes and and Type 1 is not the kind you get because of your health or your weight you are usually born with it and diagnosed with it while you are still a kid. After he was released from the hospital after a 7 day stay I lived in constant worry. I could not focus on anything except making sure he was ok, did he eat, did he take his medications. For weeks I could not sleep at night for fear he would have another attack, I still have times where I go through that now. In an effort to try to calm my fears I started focusing on things in my life that I could control: my weight, the dirty carpets ( we rented so the carpets were very old and had always looked dirty but I was able to live with that till this happened. I wouldnt do the dishes, my poor kids were always dirty, the house was a total mess. I mean have you seen those houses that are on tv that Oprah has shown well at one point my house looked like that. I only focused on scrubbing the carpet. I would get up in the morning look at the kitchen try to clean it up and just couldnt my attention would be drawn to the dirt spot in the carpet by the kitchen entrance. So I would go out to my cleaning closet get out my bucket and scrub brush and start scrubbing that spot. I would still be there scrubbing hours later when Brent came home for lunch. My poor sons, I love my sons with all my heart but I will admit for the first month Brent was home from the hospital if it hadnt been for my mom and my MIL they wouldnt have been clean or fed. I looked at them and didnt want to deal. When I was scrubbing the carpets I was zoned out to everything! I didnt think, I didnt care. This was so not like me! Finally Brent knew that something was very wrong with me so he made an appointment for me to see a doctor and I was diagnosed with manic depression and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). They didnt want to put me on medication right away they want to try to teach me other ways to focus my fears and obsession with out having to resort to medications. But after a month they realized I needed medicine to help me get through this time of my life. I hate medicine, I dont like taking it, I have a hard time remembering to finish the whole dosage. So for me it was a struggle in the beginning to just take the medication. After a few months the medicine helped me get my life back to where I was able to handle it again. Why do I tell you all this, not sure really. I just know that for me it turned my life upside down over the past 8 years we have several times that I have had to call the EMS to save him, our world has changed. I live in the fear that we will have to go through this again. When he has episodes I go into a state of worry, depression. I pray that our lives will get back to like they were 12 years ago. No worries living in our own little world where nothing hurts us. I still go into states of depression but now I know the signs I know when I need to call my doctor and I also know now that for me I cannot pull myself out of it! I now can share with my friends when I am down and have made up a support line of other moms who know me and know that I suffer from depression, who I can call or email when I need that emotional support that sometimes a family member cannot give. I started Support for Moms in an effort to help other moms who suffer from depression or need a place to go to voice their feelings. I went through another major depression this past spring and when I reached out for help from an online board that I was at I got booted as a moderator after 3 years of being a moderator on the boards and helping other moms who dealt with depression. They told me it was not because I was depressed but since the day before I had just posted that I needed help, I needed to talk and I posted my soul something I rarely do online or for that matter in person to anyone who is not family. I had a hard time believing it was for any other reason. This made me start searching for a place to post to find someone else who I could talk to who was dealing with what I was dealing with. So Support for Moms was born! It is my wish that the site and the boards offer comfort, support for all moms from all walks of life dealing with situations that they have no control over. So if you are in need of comfort, support or just want to vent and get lifes stresses off your chest please stop by our boards. Thank you for reading my story and I hope this may help just one person. Rebecca White is the host for Heal Yourself Talk Radio. No Affinity For Obesity
by bryana starnes - Friday, 11 April 2008, 11:03 AM
Anyone in the world
By Ryan English Obesity is defined as being 20 percent or more above ones desirable weight range (See appendix A again for reference). It is a medical condition that refers mainly to storage of excess body fat. The human body naturally stores fat tissue under the skin and around organs and joints. Fat is critical for good health because it is a source of energy when the body lacks natural energy necessary to sustain life processes, and it provides insulation and protection for internal organs. But the accumulation of too much fat in the body is associated with a variety of health problems. Causes A calorie is the unit used to measure the energy value of food and the energy used by the body to maintain normal functions. When the calories from food intake equal the calories of energy the body uses, weight remains constant. But when more calories are eaten than the body needs, the body stores those additional calories as fat, causing subsequent weight gain. One pound (1 lb) of fat represents about 3,500 excess calories. Obesity is partially determined by a persons genetic makeup. If a child inherited the excessive body fat cells of his obese parents, more likely, he will tend to eat more than his body needs; thus, making him an obese too. Copying poor eating habits of parents also affects a childs body weight. Lifestyles also play a key role in the triggering obesity. Eating big servings of food at restaurants and fast foods more frequently than nutritious home- cooked foods could help adding more calories and fats rather than limiting them. Devoting less time for exercise and other physical activities do not control weight gain. And doing untiring recreational activities such as browsing the internet, video games, movies, and television, plus using laborsaving devices of the modern living, such as personal computers, telephones, and remote controls, promote an inactive lifestyle. Effects and Possible Complications Obesity increases the risk of developing disease. Possible complications include: Heart disease High blood pressure Cancer Diabetes Gallbladder disease Breathing problems Bloating and stomach upsets Varicose veins Severe psychological problems In fact, according to some studies, almost 70 percent of heart disease cases in the United States are linked to excess body fat, and obese people are more than twice as likely to develop high blood pressure. Obese women are at nearly twice the risk for developing breast cancer, and all obese people have an estimated 42 percent higher chance of developing colon cancer. Almost 80 percent of patients with Type 2, or non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus are obese. The risk of medical complications, particularly heart disease, increases when body fat is distributed around the waist, especially in the abdomen. This type of upper body fat distribution is more common in men than in women. The social and psychological problems experienced by obese people are also challenging. Discrimination for fat people is most likely to occur in educational institutions, employment, and social relationships. Other psychological effects include stress, nervous tension, boredom, frustration, lack of friends, depression, inferiority complex, and poor self-esteem. Desirous Attachment , the Trap and the Solution
by bryana starnes - Friday, 11 April 2008, 08:27 AM
Anyone in the world
By Barbara Rose, Ph.D. I've seen a lot in my life. A lot of people suffering, fearful, temporarily joyous angry, hurt, resentful, longing, hopeful, and ecstatic too. I've felt all of the above, and I would venture to say that you or someone you know has as well. This article is dedicated to those who want relief and peace of mind permanently. I wanted to pass on to you the freedom I have felt from learning to free myself from desirous attachment. Here are a few examples. A man longs for a woman, and she has no interest. A woman wants to climb to the top of her career. A person REALLY wants a certain home, car, promotion, status, position, or thing. What is going on here? It's called "desirous attachment" and when you are "attached" to ANY outcome in life, as a source of happiness or validation, then you are caught in the trap. What happens when you get it and then lose it? You're miserable! What happens if you don't get it? You're miserable. What happens when you're waiting for it? You're anxious, stressed, driven, sometimes obsessed with whatever "it" is. Some people will go after whatever it is that they're attached to at all cost, no matter what they have to do, or who they have to hurt, or how "competitive" they have to be. Some people cannot find inner peace unless they "have" whatever it is they are attached to, and some people even take their lives as a result. I almost did after an unjust custody battle years ago. I couldn't see the "light" behind the darkness - All I could see was the injustice, the pain, suffering, and the burning misery I experienced really caused me to open my heart with compassion to others who suffer - because "I've been there." Think of every actor in Hollywood that wants to be a "star". They are filled with desirous attachment. Think of the people who lost all of their money and then took their lives. They too were filled with desirous attachment. The Cure The only cure for desirous attachment is the realization that whenever you get what you want, then it's usually something else that you will want after that. Right? So it's a never ending cycle. Once you realize that the cause of most personal suffering is the desirous attachment to an outcome of one form or another, and you can realize that if you let go of the desirous attachment, and allowed yourself to be at peace with who you are, from the inside out - rather than the outside in - a LOT of internal pain will be alleviated. Another example that I learned is suppose you DO get what you want - such as a certain person in your life - you're on cloud nine - UNTIL you have a fight - and THEN there's misery - as long as there's desirous attachment. Or you could be so attached to an object - such as a house, until the roof needs to be replaced - then you're not so happy anymore. The only way to free yourself from the emotional and mental suffering is to release all desirous attachment, and then you can go about your business, take care of what you wish to, be with whomever you enjoy being with, and know that you're entire life and reality does not EVER hinge on any one person, place or thing. This is the cure. I learned to put ALL of humanity on an even keel, and regard ALL sentient beings as equal. This releases the desirous attachment that places certain people on pedestals, where we elevate their importance as more than other sentient beings. ALL of humanity is equally important, not just "my" family, or "your" family - but EVERY person alive. No Attachment Equals No Suffering Think about all of the things that are on your mind. There's something that you're attached to that you either want, or are afraid of losing. I've been there, and have received much, lost much, and now am neutral as far as longing or fear. I live with more trust, as opposed to desirous attachment, and the relief is astounding. Living with a purpose to be of help and service to others brings me far greater joy than anything I have ever owned, acquired or received. This is true freedom. It's freedom from anxiety, fear, highs and lows, as well as pain and suffering. It is not what is outside of you that will being you joy - it is your BEING free of desirous attachment that will enable you to live with far more inner peace, calm, serenity, and the joy you deserve. Shed a light on the illusion that a certain person, position or thing will "make you happy" and then you will come to see that true inner peace comes when the mind is free of all desirous attachment. Think about it, and then, enjoy your JOY! Copyright by Barbara Rose.
